George Duke

George Duke, pianist (b. January 12, 1946 San Rafael, California), began working in the 60's with a jazz trio, then worked with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Kenny Dorham.
In the late sixties joined the band of Don Ellis, and recorded withJean-Luc Ponty. Through this he met Zappa, and joined theMothers in 1970. He left the group after shooting 200 Motels, and joined the band of Cannonball Adderley.

In 1973 he returned to Zappa's group until 1975, while launching his solo career. Over time it evolved from jazz to fusion and pop and funk.

He formed a successful duo with Stanley Clarke funky, and hasbeen producing the likes of Miles Davis and other figures.

En 1973 volvió al grupo de Zappa hasta 1975, al tiempo que lanzaba su carrera como solista. Con el tiempo fue evolucionando desde el jazz a la fusión y al pop y al funk.
