Buddy Morrow

Buddy Morrow (born Muni Zudekoff, aka Moe Zudekoff; February 8, 1919, New Haven, Connecticut – September 27, 2010) was an American trombonist and bandleader. He is known for his mastery of the upper range which is evident on records such as "The Golden Trombone," as well as his ballad playing.

Morrow was once a member of The Tonight Show Band. His early 1950s records such as "Rose, Rose, I Love You" and "Night Train" appeared in the US Billboard charts. "Night Train" reached #23 in the UK Singles Chart in March 1953. In 1959 and 1960 Morrow's Orchestra released two albums of American television theme songs; Impact and Double Impact respectively.

In 2009, Morrow was awarded the International Trombone Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, an award that is given to a person who has significantly changed trombone playing around the world.
He was most recently the leader of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, through September 24, 2010. Morrow died in the morning on September 27, 2010.




Buddy Morrow, (cuyo nombre original era Muni Zudekoff, a veces Moe Zudekoff), (New Haven, Connecticut, 8 de febrero de 1919 – Raleigh, Carolina del Norte, 27 de septiembre de 2010) fue un trombonista y director de orquesta estadounidense de jazz, especializado en los registros altos del instrumento. Fue alumno de la Academia Juilliard.

Morrow comenzó como miembro de la "Tonight Show Orchestra". Sus primeras grabaciones como titular, al frente de su propia Big Band, fueron a comienzos de los años 1950 (Rose, Rose, I Love You y Night Train) y lograron situarse en los charts de la revista Billboard. En 1959 y 1960, Morrow publicó dos álbumes con temas de series de televisión, que obtuvieron también importantes ventas (Impact y Double Impact, respectivamente).

En las últimas décadas del siglo XX, fue el director de la Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
En 2009, Morrow fue premiado por la International Trombone Association, con su premio anual a los que han contribuido al desarrollo del instrumento de una manera especial.
